During 2008, one manufacturer is set on moulding the world of camera-equipped mobile phones. That manufacturer is Sony Ericsson, and they plan to dominate the planet with not one but two top-end camera phones!

Camera phones evolve – the world created by Sony Ericsson

It’s quite apt, really, that Sony Ericsson should be the ones leading the way in the coming paradigm shift in camera-equipped mobile phones. I mean, it was they who began it all, way back in 2002. Let’s not forget that they were the first company to unleash a mobile phone that’d got a camera built in, within the British marketplace. That mobile was the Sony Ericsson P800, but it didn’t get the mass market penetration Sony Ericsson would’ve liked, because an incredibly (for the time) high-end smartphone. However, their most iconic device ever was about to be unleashed, and that one WOULD get great market penetration. That was the Sony Ericsson T610, and it moved the goalposts. Here was a device that stood proudly over the other mobile phones it was up against. It was small, it was sexy, and customers ADORED it. The key thing was… the Sony Ericsson T610 had also got an integrated camera, and that it was really the first handset to hit that wider market, and make people go, ‘Hang on, we actually do want our mobile phones to have cameras in ‘em!’

As camera phones get more advanced what were top-end mobile phones become more affordable, mid-range phones. Well, that’s exactly what’s happened with the gorgeous Sony Ericsson C902!

Sony Ericsson C902 – the top-end becomes the mid-range

When the world saw its first 5 megapixel mobile phone, no-one could believe they were seeing it, since the biggest, to that point, had been 3 megapixels. Nowadays, though, 5 megapixel mobile phones are common but that doesn’t mean they’re not fabulous. That’s borne out by the Sony Ericsson C902, an absolutely gorgeous little 5 megapixel phone! Sony Ericsson C905 – the best camera phone EVER?

There’s no denying power, and one thing is for certain: the Sony Ericsson C905′s got vastly more raw power than all other mobile phones you can buy in the UK. Why is it so special? Well, this is the first camera phone to be unveiled in the UK that’s got an 8 megapixel camera. That’s right. 8. That’s a frighteningly big pixel resolution, and it means that the Sony Ericsson C905 gives you the power to take the absolute most incredible pictures you’ve ever witnessed, from any camera-equipped mobile phone, in the world. Oh, and on top of that, let’s not forget that Sony Ericsson have packed it full of Cyber-Shot brilliance, and that will make the photos coming out of it even more vibrant. Combine that with a top of the range multimedia player, WiFi, HSDPA and built-in GPS, and the end result is that the Sony Ericsson C905 is, quite simply, the king of the hill. Combined with the slightly lower spec, but also lower priced Sony Ericsson C902, these two mobile phones really can’t fail!

It’s the first mobile phone to have an ‘arc-slider’ design… it’s the first Sony Ericsson mobile phone to ever use Windows Mobile… and more importantly, it’s the first in their new Xperia range of top-end, hyper-powerful mobile phones. It’s called the Sony Ericsson X1, and it may well be the most powerful phone they’ve ever made! Key to that is the fact that the Sony Ericsson X1 is built on Window Mobile 6.1, the latest, and most powerful version of that operating system. But here’s the kicker… it includes something on top. Specifically, the Sony Ericsson X1 is the first mobile phone to use their unique panels interface, with instant shortcuts and top-level panels on the phone letting you dip into the super-powered features with one touch.

It’s not just software where the Sony Ericsson X1 excels, since the hardware is absolutely top notch, as well. Clad in a premium metal body, it combines GPS, HSDPA, and a 3 megapixel camera (with manual touch focus). Basically, the Sony Ericsson X1 is a phone that likes to work, rest and play in equal measure. Whilst it’s cousin, the Sony Ericsson C905 corners the camera-phone, the X1 is destined to take on the world of super-high-end mobile phones, pouring feature after feature into the user’s hands. Even with just these two mobile phones, it seems pretty clear that Sony Ericsson are going to have a good Christmas. And if you get yourself the Sony Ericsson C905 or the frighteningly good Sony Ericsson X1, then you’re going to have a good Christmas, too!
