The latest addition to the Nokia N-Series range is the highly advanced Nokia N82, this new handset is heavily focussed on its photographic properties and video capture.
The N-Series range from Nokia represents the manufacturers showcase for all of their latest technology and mobile phone design, curent models include the upgraded Nokia N95 – Nokia N95 8GB, this new model boasts an 8 gigabite memory and a slightly different design to the original, it also incorporates a lens cover for the camera.
In comparison the Nokia N82 also offers a high specification 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, Xenon flash and Carl Zeiss Lens. The large TFT display doubles as the camera viewfinder. This is a 3G phone with HSDPA for high speed data downloads and WiFi for connecting to your home network or to wireless hotspots. The N82 supports Bluetooth 2.0 which allows for wireless streaming of music with a compatible Bluetooth headset. There is also GPS sat nav and the Nokia Maps application built in.
Although the Nokia N82 doesn’t offer the storage capacity of that of the N81 with 8GB of flash memory, the N82 has taken care of this with the assistance of microSD card expansion.
The Nokia N82 is a worthy contender for best N-Series handset but each model seems to offer its own individuality, some features appealing to some people and some of the designs to others.
In comparison the Nokia N82 is a traditional candy bar format designed phone whilst the Nokia N95 8GB offers a dual slide mechanism, some prefer the slide purley because it protects the keys whilst not in use whilst others opt for the candy bar format for ease of use.
The Nokia N82 is smaller than its competitor, the N95 8GB is 21mm thick whilst the N82 is a mere 17.3, it is also thinner in width at 50.2mm rather than 53, but the N82 is taller by a significant 13mm. This is not unusual for a candy bar handset as the keys have to be exposed below the main display, in a sliding phone they are hidden within the phone whilst closed.
The one stark difference between these two handsets is that the Nokia N95 8GB is far more music orientated whilst the Nokia N82 is focussed mostly on its camera capabilities.
Overall, it is a tight race to pick a winner for best N-Series handset and it mostly comes down to the design when having to make the decision between these top mobile phones, however like it or not both of these handsets are the very best phones currently available.
