The Nokia Corporation, which produces Nokia cell phones, is a company that includes many different nations. It is focused mostly on the growth of wired and wireless telecommunications pieces. Currently, Nokia is at the top of its field, being the largest manufacturer of cell phones. The company has a market share of nearly 38%. It makes different cell phones for different areas, and also makes different pieces of telecommunications technology to enable to running of the phones that the company makes.

The company of Nokia was actually started in 1865, as a wood pulp mill. The company got its name during its second relocation, which was to the town of Nokia, but the Nokianvirta River in Finland. The first major company to join with the Nokia company was Finnish Rubber Works, which bought the company at the same time that it bought the Finnish Cable Works. The Nokia Corporation was born of these three companies in 1967.

At that time, the company was mainly focused on telecommunications equipment for the telephone. Before the age of 1967, the company was concerned with bicycles, care tires, footwear and computers. However, with the beginnings of the cable networks and communications networks, the Nokia Company turned towards that type of work in the late 1960s.

In the 1970s, Nokia became even more involved in the entire telecommunications network by developing the Nokia DX200, which was a digital switch for telephone exchanges. This broadened into world wide use, and into technology.

Although the first mobile phones were not put out until the 1980s, the Nokia Company was involved with military and radio communications starting in the 1960s. However, the mobile phones, which are what they are most known for today, began with gust in 1982. This was when Nokia introduced its first car phone, which was called the Mobira Senator. In 1984, the Mobira Talkman was launched, which was the first transportable phone in the world. In 1987, Nokia also introduced the world’s first handheld phone, which was called the Mobira Cityman 900. The Senator had weighed 21 pounds, and the Talkman weighed in at 11 pounds. However, the Cityman was only 28 ounces, which made it much easier to hold. However, it cost about 24,000 Finnish marks, which was 4,560 Euros, or more than 8,000 dollars.

Even though these first phones were very expensive, they were an instant hit. In fact, they became a status symbol very quickly. People seemed very excited to have this new technology, and Nokia was at the forefront of it. No matter what the price was, people were snatching up the phone as quickly as they possibly could in order to have not only it, but the status that seemed to go along with it.

Currently, the Nokia phones are at the forefront of the technology that relates to cell phones. There are many different makes and models of phones that carry the Nokia brand. Not only has phone price diminished with the Nokia phones, but the phones have gotten smaller and lighter as well.

The phone service and the phones that carry the Nokia brand can now be found all over the world. Many different countries have Nokia networks. In 2006, they moved even further into the mainstream by joining with Sanyo to produce a handset venture that was going to be very profitable for them.

Currently, Nokia is one of the largest cell phone companies in the world. It has merged with companies such as Siemens AG. This merge brought it even more fortune and fame by allowing it to have more networks, more of the handheld businesses, and simply more of the room for handheld phones in the world today.

The newest Nokia phone was announced in May of 2007. This is the Nokia 1100, which was originally shipped with 200 million units. According to the company, this is the best selling mobile phone of all time. It is also the world’s top-selling consumer electronic product.

Since then, Nokia has also acquired the Twango Company. This is a media program, which allows the sharing of photos, videos, and other types of media.

The Nokia 1100 is one of the newest and most advanced cell phones that are on the market today. There are many different features that can be found on this phone that have not been found on many phones before this. The regular features are all there. You can still send and receive calls, have voice mail, call waiting and the entire ranges of service that you have always had.

However, the newest features include several different options. The phone is a camera phone, which means that along with the standard calling and text messaging, you can also take pictures and send photo messages. There is also room on the phone to share the photos that you have taken. Along with this, you can share, save and send other types of media.

With the advances in media with the Nokia 1100 and the other Nokia phones on the market, there isn’t much that you can’t do with your phone. Not only does the Nokia 1100 get excellent service and reception, but also you are going to be able to share music, play and download games, and customize your phone in a variety of ways.

Other great things about the Nokia 1100 include long life battery power, as well as the ability to jump onto other networks easily, meaning that you are never going to be without cell phone service. With the wide range of plans that Nokia has to offer you, you should be able to stay connected, no matter where you go. You can also get international plans, which means that if you are traveling from coast to coast, or across the oceans, you will still be able to use your cell phone in the same manner. These are coming more and more standard on many of the Nokia cell phone plans that are available. With all of the advancements that have been made with new cell phones, it is a wonder that there is anything else to advance.

Nokia 5800 Product Focus – is This the Future of Touchscreen Mobile Phones?

Recently announced is the first mainstream touchscreen device from Finnish manufacturer Nokia. They’ve made touchscreen mobile phones before, but… nothing like the awesomeness of the new Nokia 5800!

Nokia and touchscreens – lessons from history

Believe it or not, the Nokia 5800 isn’t the first of their mobile phones to feature a touchscreen. That accolade goes all the way back to the Nokia 7700, a mobile phone that, well, never actually got released. But it was still the first, nevertheless. It’s just a shame, really, that Nokia’s first attempt at a touchscreen mobile phone was, frankly, rubbish, since it had a bit of a dodgy interface, the looks… well, the looks were described as anything from ‘a bit misjudged’, to ‘looks like a taco’, all the way up to ‘bad prop from Star Trek’. The follow-up, the Nokia 7710 wasn’t much better, being a bit buggy, still huge, and it lacked the features that other mobile phones were rapidly starting to have (cameras, 3G and so on). After that, the only Nokia devices to have touchscreens were not actually mobile phones, as the concept was shifted over to their range of internet tablets.

But now, touchscreen mobile phones are all set to make a triumphant return to the Nokia range, with their newest and bestest touchscreen mobile phone ever: the Nokia 5800.

Nokia 5800 – touchscreen mobile phones for the masses

Soon to be released, the Nokia 5800 is sure to have a very big effect on their portfolio of mobile phones. And the inspiration of it can be traced back to the release of the iPhone, so you can be absolutely sure they’ve made the Nokia 5800 as slick and as user-friendly as possible. The new S60 Touch interface in the Nokia 5800 is tremendously elegant, as well as being really rather powerful. Put simply, it’s a joy to navigate round, and so much nicer than many other mobile phones on the market. Combine with a list of top-notch features, like 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA and so on, and you get a really cool smartphone. But it’s with music that the Nokia 5800 really shines, as it’s music that this beautiful mobile phone lives for, with a music player that really is second to none. In conclusion, I can sincerely say that the Nokia 5800 is one of the most impressive mobile phones I’ve seen in a long time.

But the surprising thing is… the Nokia 5800 is a mid-range mobile phone, not a top-ender. So what will happen, when the Nokia 5800 magically morphs into the first touchscreen Nseries mobile phone.

Captain N – the future is Nseries

There’s no doubt that the Nokia 5800 is a really cool mobile phone. It’s slick, pretty and clever. but what will the new S60 Touch interface be like when it gets put into Nseries mobile phones? Are we going to see something akin to the Nokia N96 that you control by prodding the screen? Well, the answer, unsurprisingly, is yes, as confirmed by Nokia themselves. The Nokia 5800 is merely the first toe in the water, as it were, and there WILL be Nseries mobile phones released with the new touch interface. That’s when we’re going to see the big, uber-top-end, ultra-powerful mobile phones, with cameras probably in the tens of megapixels, massive amounts of storage, and frighteningly fast internet access. They won’t be the Nokia N96 with a touchscreen, though, for the simple reason that they’ll blow everything away, the Nokia N96 included!

Nokia N97 – Special Preview for a Special Phone

Announced in late 2008, the Nokia N97 is one of the most spectacular mobile phones the Finnish manufacturer’s ever come up with. Let’s take a look at this awesome device, and see why it’s so special.

A potted history of Nokia touchscreen phones

Most people seem to be under the false impression that the Nokia 5800 is the first touchscreen mobile phone Nokia have ever made. It isn’t. The opposite’s true, because there have been a few touch-based phones to wear the Nokia name. Beginning with the 7700, the world has seen a couple of Nokia mobile phones that are controlled by you pressing directly on the screen. They all had reasonably big (for their time) screens, but the other feature they had in common, unfortunately, was that they were irredeemably hideous. Just one of those mobile phones, the 6708, displayed any promise, but that was destined solely to be sold in China, and so, we never got to play with them in Britain. The mobile phones WE got were, and I use this phrase with much feeling, utter, utter bobbins.

However, those unpleasant memories have now been firmly erased by the launch of a new Nokia mobile phone, which comes with a touch-sensitive display, and which is much, much nicer…

Bang up to date with the Nokia N97

One glance at the new Nokia N97 is enough to confirm that this is one of the most beautiful mobile phones Nokia have ever made. It’s not just the sleek, sexy body that gives the Nokia N97 its charm, it’s also that enormous touchscreen on the front of the phone, coming in at 3.5 inches, with a widescreen resolution. The fact that it’s a full touchscreen adds a whole new dimension to the Nokia N97, as well, allowing you to interact with your phone in a far more direct and exciting fashion. That’s aided, of course, by the interface in the Nokia N97, a new extension of the S60 Touch interface soon to be seen in the Nokia 5800. Suffice to say, the Nokia N97, being a far more powerful top-end mobile phone, takes it far further than its mid-range sibling, making the N97, by a considerable margin, the best touchscreen phone Nokia have ever made.

Into the future with the Nokia N97

In fact, no previous Nokia phones can match the Nokia N97 for power. Opening the list of functions and features is a superb 5 megapixel camera, so that you can snap some truly gorgeous images with the Nokia N97. Needless to say, they’ll display in luscious colour on the phone’s touchscreen, and with the built-in GPS, you can even add location data to them. As well as GPS connectivity, the Nokia N97 comes complete with a raft of internet connectivity options, including HSDPA and WiFi, which, in conjunction with the web browser, provide an internet experience that’s reminiscent of other Nokia phone, whilst being far more compelling. In terms of multimedia, you get top-end gaming, video and music, and a massive 32Gb of memory built into the phone, expanding its range of roles to include mobile phone, mobile broadband internet device, sat-nav and portable entertainment centre. Essentially, it’s very hard to find anything the Nokia N97 won’t do, and because of that, it seems likely this will easily be Nokia’s phone of the year!
