How the Sony Ericsson C902 Differs From the K850i

Posted by admin | Posted in Cell Phones & Plans | Posted on 12-01-2010

If you’re familiar with the Sony Ericsson mobile phones, you know that the Sony Ericsson C902 is the newest entry into the Cyber-Shot line of camera phones. The C902 replaces the K850i and has many of the same features. The major differences you will find between the two phones are the size of the screen and the type of flash for the phone. The two phones have similar capabilities although there seem to have been some issues with the Xenon flash that was used with the Sony Ericsson K850i.

Because of the touch screen capabilities of the Sony Ericsson C902, the screen is somewhat smaller than that of the K850i. The additional commands are related to the camera itself and make it easier for users to operate the camera. In fact, the C902 has more camera features than any other mobile phone including the Sony Ericsson K850i. The differences in picture quality depend upon the users—some people feel the quality on the K850i is poor while others rave about the clarity.

Sony Ericsson had problems with the Xenon flash in the Sony Ericsson K850i, so when the Sony Ericsson C902 came on the market, they used an LED flash instead. Though the LED flash is usually a weaker flash than the Xenon, Sony Ericsson’s decision to eliminate it because of a series of problems was indeed a good one. The LED flash that the Sony Ericsson C902 uses is not the regular LED flash and thus is of superior quality. The general consensus is that the flash works very well and the pictures are high quality for a camera phone.

A comparison of the Sony Ericsson K805i and the Sony Ericsson C902 shows that the two cameras phones are quite similar as far as the features themselves. On the other hand, reviews tend to show that the K902 was riddled with many problems including freezing and complete shutdown of the system. Whether these problems were rampant prior to SE’s decision to replace the “K” series with a newer and higher quality Cybershot camera phone is unclear.

Both of these cybershot phones have capabilities beyond that of camera phones, but the music, Bluetooth and other capabilities do not appear to differ between the Sony Ericsson C902 and the Sony Ericsson K805i. The C902 does appear to have more touch screen capabilities as indicated by the smaller screen size. This is most to accommodate the features of the camera, which tends to be more versatile and complex than the average camera phone.

The decision to use one phone over the other is personal indeed, but it’s important to remember that since the C902 replaces the K850i, most people will need to upgrade in order to be relieved of some of the problems that plagued the earlier model. The new “C” series of cybershot camera phones are destined to be the wave of the future and provide more quality service for both phone and camera users.

If your contract with your mobile phone provider is about to end – do you eagerly anticipate the type of mobile phone that you will own next?  Whether you are looking for a fashionable or a feature-filled phone, you should have a wide array of choices when it comes to the type of mobile phone that you can own.

A First Look: A Brief Sony Ericsson T303 Review

Before discussing the important details which make the Sony Ericsson T303 a unique phone to have, here is a list of the key features that users can get to enjoy with the phone.

First, the Sony Ericsson T303 is very compact and it has a sturdy build, providing that really long-lasting impression to the phone. If there is one mobile phone manufacturer which is an expert in creating slider phones, that is none other than Sony Ericsson.

The line of slider phones that they have in the market is pretty extensive. For the Sony Ericsson T303, the sliding mechanism is really smooth and efficient.

The other features of the Sony Ericsson T303 include:

- 128×160 pixel, 65-color display
- FM radio with RDS
- MP3 player
- TrackID music recognition
- 1.3-Megapixel camera
- 8 MB internal memory

Key Details about the Features of the Sony Ericsson T303

The first thing that you will notice about the Sony Ericsson T303 is the sleekness of its design. Those who are looking for a fashionable phone to display will find exactly what they are looking for with this phone.

It has a chrome finish, a mirrored screen and a metal housing. Unless you are purchasing a high-end phone, you should expect such detailed attention to design to come with a few compromises.

In the case of the Sony Ericsson T303, the sacrifices came with the features.  First, the camera only has a 1.3-megapixel resolution. It’s only good for the occasional snaphshots if you did not bring your digital camera along with you.

Another disadvantage of the Sony Ericsson T303 is the small built-in memory of only 8Mb, unlike other similar phones in the market. However, it can be expandable if you will use Sony’s Memory Stick Micro.

In terms of connectivity, there is only one option which is the standard GSM network. There is no 3G, HSDPA or Wi-Fi.

So what are the advantages of owning the Sony Ericsson T303?  Music lovers would be glad to know that the MP3 player has a feature called the TrackID music recognition – which does just what the name implies.

If you are looking for new mobile phone deals and having a camera phone is not really important to you, then you can easily take advantage of the Sony Ericsson T303 mobile phone.

The users who will enjoy the Sony Ericsson T303 are those who are on a budget but would still like to own a fashionable phone with the usual suspects as features. All in all, the Sony Ericsson T303 does have its ups and downs as a mobile phone.

If you think that the pros fat outweigh the cons, then the Sony Ericsson T303 may just be the thing for you.

Breaking Windows – Sony Ericsson and Samsung Windows Mobile Phones Put to the Test

In the world of smartphones, it’s not unfair to say that Windows Mobile is one of the premier operating systems that mobile phones can be built around. There are two big contenders for the title of best Windows Mobile phone, at the minute: the Sony Ericsson X1 and the Samsung i900 Omnia. But which one is best? Let’s put them to the test and find out!

Samsung i900 Omnia – Windows Mobile for the masses

Announced a couple of days before Apple launched the iPhone 3G (hmm, do I spot a bit of attention-grabbing), the Samsung i900 Omnia is a beautifully powerful, incredibly good-looking mobile phone. Sitting within a sleek, metal shell, it’s following the pattern of an increasing number of mobile phones, and stripping down the number of keys, focusing instead on just a touchscreen interface. Also, like an increasing number of mobile phones, Samsung have taken Windows Mobile, and put their own interface on top of it, making the insides look as good as the outside (not literally, obviously. If you take a Samsung i900 Omnia apart, you’ll find cables and circuit boards, which aren’t noted for being sexy). Not only has it got a slick interface, but the hardware features are spot on, with 5 megapixel camera, HSDPA, and GPS. It’s fair to say the Samsung i900 Omnia is one of the most powerful mobile phones going.

Sony Ericsson X1 – the first of a new breed

The Sony Ericsson X1 is a mobile phone of firsts, in more than one way. For one thing, it’s the first phone in Sony Ericsson’s new Xperia range of mobile phones. For another, it’s the first EVER Sony Ericsson mobile phone to be built around Windows Mobile (with the almost obligatory personalised interface on top). Finally, it’s first mobile phone (not just from Sony Ericsson, from anybody), to feature the innovative ‘arc slider’ design. What’s that? Well, when you slide out the screen, to unveil the QWERTY keyboard, it doesn’t slide in a straight line, but instead, it arcs slightly upwards, angling the screen so you can see it more easily, while you’re typing. Massive kudos go to Sony Ericsson for that, since it’s such a useful, clever feature, I genuinely can’t believe we’ve never seen it on any other mobile phones before now. In terms of hardware on the Sony Ericsson X1, you get a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA and WiFi, GPS and that aforementioned QWERTY keyboard, all wrapped up in a gorgeous (and I mean properly gorgeous) metal body.

Sony Ericsson or Samsung – which should YOU buy?

So, when it comes down to it, which of these two super-powered mobile phones should you drop your cash for? Should you go for the sleek, slim Samsung, or should you go for the more functional, but equally sexy Sony Ericsson? If you compare the two mobile phones, some conclusions should become apparent. For example, take the cameras in both mobile phones. The Samsung clearly wins that fight, as it has a much higher res camera than the Sony Ericsson. However, after the camera, the Sony Ericsson REALLY comes into its own. The simple fact that the Sony Ericsson X1 has a QWERTY keyboard is a massive plus point over the Samsung, even if the Samsung is the slimmer of the two mobile phones. The keyboard adds that much more ease of use, that it’s basically an essential feature. Finally, there are two areas that the Sony Ericsson absolutely canes the Samsung in. First, the speed. The Sony Ericsson X1 appears one of the fastest, smoothest Windows Mobile phones I’ve ever seen, and although the Samsung is good, it’s just not quite AS good. Finally, there’s the screen. The Samsung has a slightly better one, but the Sony Ericsson has FOUR times the screen resolution, completely dwarfing the Samsung. And for that reason, of these two gorgeous mobile phones, the Sony Ericsson X1 is the absolute, and outright winner!

This thought is however not only laced with the results of magnificence and brilliance of both of the products mentioned, but is altogether robed in the fantastic features present in both of the handsets. The Sony Ericsson T280i has the feature of Bluetooth for the purpose of data transmission and GPRS for the purpose of speed and efficiency of data transfer.

The thought: “Sony Ericsson W595 vs Sony Ericsson T280i” also bears quite an interesting outcome in terms of the facet called multimedia. Both of the handsets are therefore provided with good multimedia features which enhance the capability of these mobile devices to entertain the user and hence relieve him of any sort of tension, boredom and anxiety.

Hence if the user wants to listen to good music he has the choice of both these handsets due to the presence of the features (related to music). Therefore the Sony Ericsson W595 is equipped with a Walkman player and also a FM radio with RDS, both of which give the much needed enjoyment in the time starved world today. The Sony Ericsson T280i is also quite a decent entertainment device with the facility of a FM radio.

Apart from this feature, another primary multimedia facility is the camera feature in these handsets.Hence the Sony Ericsson W595 has a 3.2 MP camera which is able to take pictures which have an image resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and therefore the user is able to take fantastic pictures with this mobile device. The Sony Ericsson T280i is also a good camera mobile phone with quite a decent camera capable of taking high quality pictures which are quite well defined and hence have a high degree of clarity in them. Hence the thought: “Sony Ericsson W595 vs Sony Ericsson T280i” is perhaps given quite a vivid meaning in terms of the features discussed above with the results being wonderful for the user in either one of the mobile phones.

The new C905 range of Cybershot mobile phones has now expanded to include a new colour variant, the Sony Ericsson C905 Silver edition is the latest version of this new 8 megapxiel camera phone to hit UK markets and swells the number of colour schemes availble to four in total.

Originally released in black the Sony C905 was then launched in a new bronze casing alongside an extremely similar gold version called the Inca Gold edition, now this flagship model from Sony Ericsson has been made available in a new sleek silver finish giving the phone a real sense of expense and worth.

The Sony Ericsson C905 mobile phone is the first slide designed handset to carry the Cyber-shot name. It’s packed with premium camera features that are rarely found on mobiles including a world-leading 8.1 megapixel camera.

The Sony Ericsson C905 Silver is a high flyer with a lot to offer.  The latest phone in Sony’s Cyber-shot range, the Sony C905 is equipped with an 8.1MP autofocus camera with an endless list of features.  Starting with a built-in Xenon and photo flash, the Sony Ericsson C905 Silver includes 16x digital zoom, image stabiliser, red-eye reduction, face detection, BestPic technology, geotagging and picture blogging.  Oh, and just for good measure there’s a secondary videocall camera as well.

Plus there’s an anti-shake image stabilizer to help you avoid blurry pictures, along with built-in GPS to help users remember where they took each photo! As you’d expect from Sony Ericsson, this is not just a camera phone. It is also a music player, a radio, a games machine and a web browser, adding WiFi and 3G connectivity to keep you online. But it’s the camera that really stands out. If you’re serious about photography, the Sony Ericsson C905 is an excellent choice.

The Silver Sony C905 also has an accelerometer which comes in handy for automatic rotation of the screen when viewing pictures and if you want to have a family viewing on your TV, then the TV output port is a blessing. The 2.4 inch TFT screen display is of course scratch resistant thanks to its high quality mineral glass cover.  When it comes to memory, the Sony Ericsson C905 proudly boasts 160MB user memory plus optional 2GB expansion.

Anything but lacking in its abilities, the Silver Sony Ericsson C905 offers Quad Band GSM with GPRS and EDGE technology and Tri Band UMTS (3G) and HSDPA support plus WiFi capabilities with DLNA support.

Multimedia features are overflowing on this phone with an MP3 player, FM Radio with RDS support and built-in GPS with A-GPS functionality.  Identify song titles and artists with TrackID music recognition software onboard, download music and games direct to your phone with PlayNow and share images and files with bluetooth wireless that comes with A2DP stereo support.  With video streaming you can watch live video’s on your mobile phone and download onto your pc using a USB connection.

Incredibly Sony have managed to pack all this into 104 x 49 x 18mm dimensions and the phone weighs 136g.  Battery life consists of 9 hours of talktime and 380 hours on standby with GSM networks and approximately 4 hours of talktime and 360 hours standby on 3G networks.

Initially available on O2 pay monthly contract deals it is expected that the Sony C905 Silver edition will be made available on further UK networks in the very near future with four different colour schemes to choose from the C905 is an attractive proposal for any mobile phone enthusiast especially those who demand the highest quality from their wireless devices.

Sony Ericsson C905 – About to Lose Its Crown to the Samsung Pixon?

This year, one company is set on shaping the universe of camera-enabled mobile phones. That phone-maker is Sony Ericsson, and they plan to dominate the market with the Sony Ericsson C905. But they have competition in the shape of the Samsung Pixon. So, which will win?

Camera phones in history – the world created by Sony Ericsson

It’s rather apt, when you think about it, that Sony Ericsson should be the ones leading the way in the revolution in camera-equipped mobile phones. After all, it was they who kicked it all off, long ago, in 2002. Lest we forget, they were the first manufacturer to release a mobile phone that had a camera in it, in the UK. That mobile was the Sony Ericsson P800, but it didn’t really hit the mass market in the way that Sony Ericsson wanted, since it was an amazingly (compared to other mobile phones at the time) top-end smartphone. But, their most iconic handset in history was about to be unleashed, and that one WOULD have great market penetration. It was the Sony Ericsson T610, and it moved the goalposts. Here you had a device that stood head and shoulders over the rival mobile phones around it. It was small, it was sexy, and people LOVED it. Plus, let’s not forget that the Sony Ericsson T610 also had an integrated camera, and that it was really the first handset to go to the wider market, and make them think, ‘Hang on, we actually do want our mobile phones to have cameras in ‘em!’

Sony Ericsson C905 – the ultimate camera phone?

You just can’t deny power, and one thing is for definite: the Sony Ericsson C905′s got much more raw power than all other mobile phones you’ll come across in the UK. Why is it so special? Well, it’s the first camera phone to be unleashed upon the UK that has an 8 megapixel camera. Yup. 8. That’s a ludicrously huge pixel count, and it means that the Sony Ericsson C905 gives you the power to take the absolute most jaw-dropping pictures you’ve ever experienced, from any camera-equipped mobile phone, ever. Oh, and on top of that, don’t forget that Sony Ericsson have amped it up with Cyber-Shot technology, and that will make the photos it produces so much more sumptuous. Add in a brilliant multimedia player, WiFi, HSDPA and integrated GPS, and the end result is that the Sony Ericsson C905 is, without doubt, the best they’ve ever made!

Samsung Pixon – the phone to end Sony Ericsson’s reign?

Ok, so it’s fair to say the Sony Ericsson C905 is a work of genius. But is there a mobile phone that can beat it? Well, how about one with an 8 megapixel camera AND a full touchscreen interface? That’s exactly what you get with the Samsung Pixon. Mind you, it has to be said, the Samsung Pixon is a truly beautiful mobile phone, and arguably produces slightly crisper photos than the Sony Ericsson C905. And then, of course, there’s that huge touchscreen, and that slick interface, making for one incredibly sexy and lovable mobile phone. At the end of the day, it’s going to come down to personal preference, but of the two mobile phones (and bear in mind, when I say this, that it’s a Sony junkie saying it…), I’d really have to go for the incredible Samsung Pixon.
