I am somewhat planning to buy a smartphone on eBay or at retail pricing and then activating it on my basic plan. Is this possible now? Will it remain possible once Alltel becomes Verizon? How do I do this, just buy the phone, activate it online/over phone?

I just got a Motorola RAZR v3xx, and I noticed that sometimes, for example, when I am playing a game that came preloaded with the phone, a Java sign appears on my phones display. Now, I am wondering, does using Java indicate that I am using the internet on my phone? Because if it does, it’ll mean that I’ll be spending a lot of money paying for internet charges due to the extensive amount of time I spend playing games on my cell phone.

My wife has a Bluetooth Nokia phone and her Dell computer is BT compatible. Without using a cable, we want to transfer songs and pics to her phone. I assume there is a way to make the connection. However, will we also need Nokia software to move them?

What type of problems do you encounter when you’re downloading and installing applications? And do those phones (that support JAVA) usually have/need more memory?

When a phone supports downloading of applications does it necessarily mean that those apps must be written in JAVA? Are there any other types of apps that phones allow users to download?

I’m a prospective JAVA supported phone buyer. I’d appreciate your answers.
